Students Experience Earthquake While Learning About Earthquakes!

Ms. Jennings' 5th period Earth Science class at Hills East was recently settling in to learn how earthquake waves travel. Suddenly, the floor and desks shook and glassware in the cabinets rattled loudly. The students looked around at each other for about 8 seconds wondering what to make of the rumbling noise. Realizing it was a true earthquake was a thrill! After taking a break to watch a quick "breaking news" story, they finished their lesson and reflected on the odds of this happening in New York in the middle of a tectonic plate - very uncommon! Everyone in the room will remember this day and the excitement that came with it!

West's Isabella Williams & Nadia Ahmed Receive Scholarships From Long Island Mathematics Conference Board

Congratulations to Hills West's Isabella Williams and Nadia Ahmed for receiving scholarships from the Long Island Mathematics Conference Board! Both students were allowed to invite a mathematics teacher who inspired them to perform well in mathematics; Isabella invited Ms. Javaherforoush and Nadia invited Mrs. O'Grady.

Half Hollow Hills PTSA Legislation Committee Returns To Albany

Members of the Half Hollow Hills PTSA Legislation Committee recently visited Albany to meet with our state representatives and share our district's legislative priorities with them. The students received legislative experience while lobbying for essential items like foundation aid school funding, school safety & security, and healthy meals for all.
