Teachers, students and community members from Half Hollow Hills were proud to participate in the Run 4 Beigel - Long Island 5K Run/Walk, that celebrated the 37th birthday of Hills East alumni Scott Beigel.
The New York State School Boards Association recognizes October 21-25 as School Board Recognition Week, which is a time to promote awareness and understanding of the important work performed by school board members. The Half Hollow Hills Central School District of Huntington and Babylon is joining all public school districts across the state to celebrate School Board Recognition Week to honor local board members for their commitment to our community and children.

As part of Start with Hello week, West Hollow students became the "I" in KIND to remind them how important their actions are towards others. This simple reminder focused their attention on the smallest, simplest kind acts they can do.
Students in the Senior Experience classes at East and West experienced the New York State Citizen Preparedness Corps training delivered by the American Red Cross, so they have the tools and resources to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions.

Congratulations to Hills West senior Poojan Pandya and his research project partner Leo Li Takemaru from Ward Melville High School on earning one of the European Union’s top prizes for young scientists at the 31st EU Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) in Sofia, Bulgaria. The students will share one of the four 1st place prizes of 7000 euros for their research on HIV proteins that could potentially be used as part of anti-HIV therapies.
