The Institute of Creative Problem Solving for Gifted and Talented Students at SUNY College at Old Westbury recently announced that the following Half Hollow Hills Central School District students have been accepted to the Institute to pursue the study of mathematics and its applications: Julia Fitlin, Benjamin Goldfried, Michael Han, Nicholas Han, Dylan Keskinyan, Ryan Peskin, and Niyanth Ponnusamy.
Six Hills East student artists were selected to exhibit their artwork in 'The Nightmare on Main Street' exhibit at the Huntington Arts Council. Congratulations to Brooke Blumberg, Giavanna Castro, Rachel Goldsmith, Elizabeth Gordin, Anna Laimo and Matthew Rubenfeld.
The Half Hollow Hills Robotics Team recently hosted their 7th Annual Robotics Invitational at Hills West, where Long Island's future science and technology leaders and innovators from 24 school districts gathered to build their STEM skills in a fun and exciting robotics competition.
The Half Hollow Hills Central School District is proud to announce that Brian Strack, a math and computer science teacher at Half Hollow Hills High School East, has been selected as one of 275 educators from across the state to join the New York State Master Teacher Program.
Congratulations to Hills East's Abhay Saha and Cassandra Ye who were selected for the NYSSMA 13th Annual Piano Showcase at the All-State Conference in Rochester this December. The NYSSMA Piano showcase is a solo piano recital featuring the finest classical student pianists in New York State. #HHHCSD
The New York State Music Association has made its selection of students who will participate in the 2018 NYSSMA Conference All-State music groups, and the Half Hollow Hills Central School District is very proud to have seven All-State musicians chosen to take part in this year’s Winter Conference. An additional 12 student musicians from the district were selected as alternates, and may be chosen to fill any openings in the performances.
The Long Island Arts Alliance announced the 2019 Long Island Scholar-Artist award winners and Award of Merit recipients at a kickoff event on September 12, 2018, at Long Island University’s Tilles Center. Half Hollow Hills is proud to have three of its students recognized as Award of Merit recipients, for their excellence in academics and in the areas of music, visual arts, dance, theater, or media arts.

Congratulations to our National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Students, recognized for their exceptional academic promise for finishing in the top 5% of the competition: Hills West's David Bromberg, Jenna Greenberg, Imaan Hussain & Avery Schwartz, and Hills East's Brooke Blumberg, Jade Long, Stevie Martin, Zachery Stern Dylan Weber and Xinwen Zhang.
All five elementary schools in Half Hollow Hills held their annual beginning of the year family activities, which included numerous family picnics and a family movie night. Students and their families had a great time gathering for good food and lots of fun to kick-off the new school year!
