The Half Hollow Hills Central School District was recently ranked by Niche.com as #1 in the Best School Districts in Suffolk County for 2020!
Students at Hills East and West have shown great interest and success in AP Seminar and AP Computer Science Principles, the two newest Advanced Placement courses offered by the College Board. During the 2018-19 school year, Half Hollow Hills offered AP Seminar for the first time; students from the district out-performed peers from across the state and globe on the AP exam. As the AP Computer Science Principles class rolls into its fourth year in the district in 2019-20, the number of students enrolling in the program has increased by almost four times the original amount from 2016-17.

The REACH Community and Youth Agency recently presented a free teen conference called Preparing For Life After High School: Surviving and Thriving, for close to 150 junior and senior high school students from Half Hollow Hills, South Huntington, Sachem and Madonna Heights.
The Guidance Departments of East and West hosted a College Evening Consortium entitled “Exploring Educational Excellence” which was comprised of admissions counselors from Brown University, University of Chicago, Columbia University, Cornell University and Rice University.

The Sophia Valsamos Foundation brought the Be Time Meditation Bus to both Hills East and West so that students from a mix of health classes, psychology classes and clubs could attend 15 minute “mindfulness & mediation” sessions.
