The Business Education department offers a strong elective program for students in our high schools. The department strives to provide students with the technical, problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills necessary for pursuing a college education, entering the workplace, and functioning in a global society. In the pursuit of these skills, the department works with students to assist them in becoming clear and effective communicators, self-directed and lifelong learners. Whether a student is off to college or entering the work force, business courses provide an edge, exposing students to concepts, applications and skills needed to succeed in the workplace as well as in everyday life.

Business courses provide students a strong foundation and the skills necessary to be successful. Students can take business courses such as:

  • Accounting
  • Advertising
  • Business and Finance

  • Business Law
  • Business Ownership and Marketing
  • Fashion Marketing
  • Online Business and Social Media
  • Sports Marketing

Other opportunities for students to practice and hone skills and knowledge acquired in Business classes are through the Distributed Education Clubs of America (DECA) and the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). DECA is designed specifically for students interested in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship while FBLA is an association of students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. This organization provides students the opportunity to see how businesses operate. Both of these organizations hold regional, state and national competitions in which our students participate. Half Hollow Hills students consistently perform well in these competitions. See our list of current achievers . For a full list of clubs and activities click here.
