Students come into the Media Center once a week for library instruction. Library curriculum centers around student engagement, collaboration, and exploration.
Each library period is forty minutes. Within that time period students will either listen to a story, learn how to navigate the OPAC and various databases, or conduct research pertaining to a classroom project. The last 10 minutes is dedicated to book check-out.
If the library book is not returned, a new book cannot be checked out. A book reminder will be sent home with the student. Books that are lost or damaged must be paid for so that they can be replaced. If the book is found, money will be refunded.
Show how much you care about our library, adopt a shelf! Students may choose a library shelf to "adopt" and care for that shelf by keeping the books in order, pulling old titles, or making suggestions of books we should order to add to that shelf.
Adopt-A-Shelf is open to 4th and 5th graders every morning from 8:30-9:05.
Leave your mark on the Sunquam Library, Adopt-A-Shelf!
