Congratulations to Hills West's Maia Schnaider on being the winner from our Congressional District in the esteemed Congressional Art Competition!

Congratulations to Hills West's Maia Schnaider on being the winner from our Congressional District in the esteemed Congressional Art Competition!

Winning artworks are displayed in the hallway of the U.S. Capitol for one year, and Maia received a voucher for two airfare tickets to attend the exhibit’s ribbon-cutting ceremony. The theme of the contest was "Patriotic American Icons" and asked students to create a piece that recognized our nation’s proud history, accomplishments and sacrifice. Maia’s beautiful color pencil drawing was especially meaningful, as it conveyed her grandparents who immigrated from Israel. Maia drew them in front of the U.S flag to symbolize hope for new beginnings and the pride of becoming citizens.
