Signal Hill Artists Celebrate Black History and Women’s History Months

Student artists from Signal Hill have been working with their art teacher Mrs. Jackson on special projects for Black History Month and Women’s History Month.

 

Student artists from Signal Hill have been working with their art teacher Mrs. Jackson on special projects for Black History Month and Women’s History Month.

 

During February, the students celebrated Black History Month by utilizing watercolors to paint in the abstract style of African American Artist, Alma Woodsey Thomas. T

 

he students recognized Women’s History Month in March by reading children’s literature that explored famous women achieving their dreams. Then they utilized different techniques like printmaking, collages and oil pastel painting to create their own artwork based on the life achievements of the famous women that they read about.
