Paumanok's librarian, Ms. Walsh, challenged her 5th grade classes to a STEM project where they had to build the best containers they could with a limited amount of materials to compete in an egg drop competition.

Variables considered were the materials used, height of the drop and the landing location. Drops became higher after the first round of success, and eventually, the landing location changed from the grass to the sidewalk. The 5th graders created a wide variety of vessels, and several were engineered successfully to protect their eggs!
