Congratulations to Hills West senior Zyaire Haywood who was selected as a featured artist in the first ever NYSUT Virtual Arts Showcase, “Inside/Outside: Students of the Arts Respond to the COVID-19 Pandemic.” Presented as a virtual tour through an art gallery, the exhibit displayed the art, music and dance created by students from 30 New York schools.

 

Zyaire has been putting his creative talents into writing poetry and songs in his Music Production & Recording class all year, where he has compiled a catalogue of original music. His featured song, “Running Away” reflects on the experience of quarantine and conveys a sense of hope for a brighter future. Recognizing his unique talents and passion for songwriting, Zyaire’s music teacher Mr. Moore worked with him to record and engineer “Running Away” at the Hills East recording studio.
