The 8th Grade Rising Stars from West Hollow and Candlewood recently went on a field trip to West Hills County Park where they learned about orienteering from Glen, the President of the Long Island Orienteering Club.

The 8th Grade Rising Stars from West Hollow and Candlewood recently went on a field trip to West Hills County Park where they learned about orienteering from Glen, the President of the Long Island Orienteering Club.

 

Students learned to read the various components of a map and to work together with new and old friends. They had to collaborate and problem-solve in order to navigate their way through the park looking for ten controls, all while competing for the fastest time to complete the course.
