Congratulations to Hills West Environmental Club members Alex Huang, Emma Zoccoli and Mariam Hassan on winning a $2500 grant from the Long Island Regional Planning Council's annual Long Island Water Quality STEAM challenge!

 

The grant will support the creation of a rain garden at Hills West that the students designed that uses ‘seed bombs’ (clusters packed with indigenous wildflowers) at the base of drainage channels to filter stormwater runoff and reduce nitrogen levels on school grounds.
