Hills West Retires Alumni Alexander Aurrichio's Basketball Jersey

This past weekend, Hills West and former head varsity boys basketball coach Bill Mitaritonna retired the jersey of alumni Alexander Aurrichio who graduated in the Class of 2008. Alexander was tragically lost in a bike accident while living in Australia in May of 2020.

 

This past weekend, Hills West and former head varsity boys basketball coach Bill Mitaritonna retired the jersey of alumni Alexander Aurrichio who graduated in the Class of 2008. Alexander was tragically lost in a bike accident while living in Australia in May of 2020.

 

He was a 3 sport captain at Hills West in soccer, basketball and baseball. In his senior year, he led the varsity basketball team to a school record 23 game winning streak and first Suffolk County Championship in school history.

 

Alexander is regarded as one of the best defensive basketball players in Hills West history and he is remembered for his leadership and competitive spirit. He went on to play soccer and baseball at Columbia University followed by a career in the Australian Football League.
