The Hills East Art History class of 2024 continued their long tradition of installation art with their 18th annual project called Blank Canvas, a reimagined classroom in the main lobby that is only colored black and white.

The Hills East Art History class of 2024 continued their long tradition of installation art with their 18th annual project called Blank Canvas, a reimagined classroom in the main lobby that is only colored black and white.

The class painted all of the objects that you would find in a classroom white and applied a black outline, with the lack of color representing a blank canvas where visitors to the exhibit become the color in the installation, and in a sense become the painting. Everything in the interactive space is 3D, but by using the color white with black outlines, they create a 2D visualization where the entire room appears as an illusion.

Their inspiration was "No Crying in the Barber Shop" by Pepon Osorio, and the installation will be on exhibit throughout the month of January.
