Mr. John O'Farrell
Superintendent of Schools

Mr. John O’Farrell is the Superintendent of Schools for the Half Hollow Hills Central School District, charged with being the executive officer for the board of education and the unitary leader of the school district, with responsibility for its effective functioning.
Mr. O’Farrell has served the Half Hollow Hills Central School District since 2000, when he began his career in education as a science teacher in the West Hollow Middle School. In 2008, he was appointed as the Director of Science and Technology for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Mr. O’Farrell joined the central office administrative team in 2011 as the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education.
Mr. O’Farrell’s goal is to provide all of our students with the skills and knowledge they will need to be competitive and successful in higher education and as members of the 21st century workforce.

Assistant Superintendent for Business
Ms. Anne Marie Marrone Caliendo
Assistant Superintendent for Business

Ms. Anne Marie Marrone Caliendo is the assistant superintendent for finance & facilities in the Half Hollow Hills Central School District, supervising all non-instructional operations. This includes but is not limited to facilities, real estate management, grounds, food services, security, transportation, purchasing, accounts receivable, investing, budgeting, accounting, capital projects, residency, legal matters, property and liability insurance, employee benefits, and communications.
Prior to joining Half Hollow Hills in 2011, Ms. Marrone Caliendo served in the William Floyd School District as their assistant superintendent for business. Like many school business officials, her career didn’t begin in education, having spent 15 years working in the private sector for a variety of banks in their credit card, debit card and automotive finance divisions. She sits on the board of governors for the New York Schools Insurance Reciprocal and is the outgoing president of the Suffolk County Chapter of the Association of School Business Officials.
Ms. Marrone Caliendo’s goal is to provide the students and tax payers of Half Hollow Hills with an efficiently and effectively run school district that delivers quality educational programs and services.

Assistant Superintendent for Education Operations
Dr. Milton Strong
Assistant Superintendent for Education Operations

A lifelong educator with more than three decades of experience, Dr. Strong began his career in the New York City Department of Education before returning to his roots in Half Hollow Hills. A proud graduate of the district (Class of 1989), he came back in 2003 as an Assistant Principal at West Hollow Middle School. In 2008, he was appointed Principal of West Hollow, serving for nine years before becoming Principal of High School East in 2017. After eight years there, he moved into his current district leadership role. His dedication to continuous growth led him to earn a doctoral degree in Educational Policy and Leadership from Hofstra University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Strong has worked to enrich the student experience and now brings that vision district-wide, supporting programs and initiatives that foster creativity, collaboration, and a vibrant sense of community across all grade levels.

Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources
Mr. Michael Truocchio
Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources

Mr. Michael Truocchio serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources in the Half Hollow Hills Central School District, providing leadership for the district's human resources operations and supporting the recruitment, development and retention of a highly qualified workforce dedicated to student success.
A lifelong member of the Half Hollow Hills community, Mr. Truocchio has experienced the district as a student, teacher and administrator. He began his career as a biology teacher at Half Hollow Hills High School West in 2010 before transitioning to a central office administrative role in 2020. Most recently, he served as Director of Middle School Special Education, working closely with students, families and staff to strengthen educational programs and support student achievement. His deep understanding of the district and collaborative leadership approach continue to guide his work in supporting employees across all departments.
Mr. Truocchio earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Siena College, a master's degree in adolescent education from Dowling College and a post master's advanced certificate in educational leadership from Stony Brook University. He is committed to fostering a positive, collaborative workplace that empowers staff and strengthens the educational experience for every student.
