Dear Half Hollow Hills Family,

I am writing to inform you that the Board of Education has received a letter of resignation from our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Patrick Harrigan. After his nearly 20 years of dedicated service to our district, he has decided to step down at the end of October to pursue a new and exciting opportunity. On behalf of the Board of Education and our entire community, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Harrigan for his outstanding leadership, tireless commitment to our students, and unwavering dedication to educational excellence. He has led Half Hollow Hills to its status as a premier school district on Long Island, in the State and even in National recognition. This is a great loss for all of us.

Reluctantly, the Board plans to formally accept Dr. Harrigan’s resignation at an upcoming meeting.

As we begin our transition plan, the Board of Education has a lot of work to complete with numerous considerations. We are committed to ensuring a transparent and thoughtful process to find a successor who will continue building upon our district's solid foundation. The Board will work diligently during this long process to find a leader who shares our vision for the future of Half Hollow Hills and is committed to the success of every student.

Thank you for your continued support and trust during this process. Together, we will ensure that our district remains a place of excellence, opportunity and growth for all.

Warm regards,

Diana Acampora
President, Half Hollow Hills Board of Education
