Why is the Flag Flying at Half-Staff Today?
Flag Protocols for Memorial Day
Per Governor Hochul’s directive, flags on state buildings are being flown at half-staff in honor of the victims of the horrific shooting at Tops Supermarket in Buffalo until all of the victims are laid to rest.
Governor Hochul has updated this directive, ordering flags on state buildings to be flown at half-staff until noon on Monday, May 30, to honor the victims of the Texas shooting. This directive coincides with national and state flag protocols for the Memorial Day observance.
Flags should remain at full-staff following Memorial Day.
